Colourfull sails flying over the water at the south end of the bay tell you that not only swimming but also surfing is great fun here. There are many sandy beaches and bays that are hardly visited, like "Playa de las Tejitas" and "Ensenada Pelada".

El Médano is not a tourist centre as such. Here you find a lot of individual tourists, but no mass tourism. And whoever can afford it, buys himself a second home from the local people in El Médano. That is why the tourist stays almost unnoticed among the locals. The favourite spots are the bars on the Plaza.

 

El Médano also offers a variety of good and even high quality restaurants. Furthermore, in this place you are absolutely sure to have daily sunshine, because even when in Playa de Las Americas the sun is covered by clouds, in EL Medano the sun shines at least a few hours every day.

 

About 2 km north-east of the centre, close to the bay "Ensenada Pelada" mentioned above, a villa was contructed 5 years ago on a plot of land with an extention of about 1.500 m². Next to the owner's apartment, another large apartment and a studio were built. Compared to most houses on the island, this house is a positive change as far as the architecture is concerned. In and outside the house, the use of natural stones and noble wood transmits a special cosy living atmosphere. This sure is a place where you feel at home right from the start to enjoy your holiday in a relaxed way.

On the sunny terrace you find tables, chairs and sun beds. At one end of the garden there is a sitting area resembling a ship's bow, from where you have a wonderful sea view. This spot is very popular in the mornings e.g. to have your breakfast while enjoying the sea. Besides, in the lower part of the house a natural cave was transformed into a bodega (wine cellar), here you can enjoy the evenings with a glass of good wine. You can hear the waves here, because the house is situated only 100 m away from the shore. The small natural sandy beach is ideal for small children, because the water is very shallow and there is no current. Here bathing with the kids is fun for everyone. The superb location of this holiday spot gives you a free, unconstructed view over the sea and the mountains. If you walk to the small beach you need about 2 minutes. The restaurants and supermarkets are only at 2 minutes distance by car.

The popular farmer's market in San Isidro is at about 5 km and you can go there every Saturday and Sunday morning from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. This is where the products of the farmers are always offered fresh and for a good price: fruit and vegetables, cheese, wine, cakes and sweets and lots more. The tourist centres of "Los Cristianos" and "Playa de las Americas are about 20 minutes away by car, the airport (15 km) around 15 minutes. Renting a car is advisable. Towels, bath-towels, tea towels and bed clothes are at hand.

 

The large holiday apartment disposes of a living space of around 120 m². Apart from that there is a terrace with a garden of about 80 m². The living space is divided in a large sitting room with a modern fitted kitchen and a dining space. Then there are 3 bedrooms which each have their own bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet. Just the view in the living room reveales that the apartments were decorated with a lot of love for details and that costs did not matter. The optical centre is the sitting area, situated on a lightly lower level and with the guarantee of full comfort. A television set (for the moment only German and Spanish channels), a video recorder and a radio are available. The kitchen disposes of a refrigerator/freezer, a toaster, a coffee machine, an electric hob with 4 plates, juicer, water cooker, microwave and all other major kitchen utensils. In the bedrooms, one bed is 160 x 190 cm, both other beds are 140 x 190 cm. This means that this apartment is suitable for up to 6 people.
