We should also give the wine museum in El Sauzal a special mention. The
building itself, a 17th century former farmhouse, is worthy of a
visit. In the inner courtyard, you will find an old wine press. In the separate exhibition rooms, there is information about the history of viticulture in Tenerife. You can, of course, partake in wine tasting or buy your favourite selected wine immediately there and then. El Sauzal also has much more to offer, for example, Manuel’s pottery. At his potter’s wheel, and with lightning-speed, he turns out domestic ceramics, like plates, cups, vases and pots. There are also many supermarkets and restaurants in the village.
At this point, we would mention just two very good restaurants: Los Angeles and La Ermita. As well as Canarian and international culinary delights, there is also a large selection of fish specialities. In addition, there is an opportunity on weekends to purchase fresh fruit, vegetables, wine and other local farm products offered at the La Matanza farmers´ market. The distance to Tenerife South airport is around 80km, and about 20km to the north airport. It is around 35km to the capital Santa Cruz and 15km to Puerto de la Cruz.
The "Casa Antonio" holiday house is large, around 200 m ² and has parquet floors throughout. There is a sitting room, a dining room, four bedrooms, a kitchen, two bathrooms and a laundry room, where a washing machine is installed.
The sitting room has three comfortable sofas, a large TV with major international radio and TV satellite channels, a DVD player and a radio-cassette with CD player. There is also a keyboard for anyone who might like to make music himself. In the dining room, there are six chairs and a large dining table. The kitchen is similarly of high quality and completely equipped: coffee maker, toaster, kettle, microwave, 4-ring gas hob, fridge/freezer, oven and dishwasher.
The first bedroom (with en-suite bathroom) looks out to the garden and has a double bed (180 x 200cm), floor-to-ceiling wardrobes and a dressing table. The TV is also connected to a satellite dish. The bathroom is equipped with a shower (hydro massage), WC, washbasin and a hairdryer. From the second bedroom, you have a great view of the sea. The bed is 170 x 200cm and there is satellite TV also as well as a large wardrobe and a chest of drawers. The third bedroom has one single bed and the fourth bedroom two single beds. Bed linen, hand-towels, bath-towels and tea towels are provided in plenty.
The house has two pleasant terraces and a garden in its grounds, for private use. The terrace is provided with garden furniture, sun-loungers, an outside shower and a charcoal grill. From there, you have a wonderful view of the Atlantic, which is only about 300m away and a 180-degree-panoramic view of the north coast of Tenerife. The sun shines almost all day long on the terrace, from dawn until dusk. The house itself lies about 250m above sea level. According to the season, you can pick fruit in the garden, like lemons, oranges, mangoes or bananas. The bus stop is about 100m away.
Connection to the Internet is possible via a USB WIFI modem which is a
available upon request to guests of both houses, Casa Helen and Casa Antonio, and can be used free of charge. Installation is very
simple: you connect the small modem to a USB port on your laptop; it
then installs itself, giving you convenient access to send and receive
your email as well as attach one or two photos. The modem is not really
suitable for downloading larger volumes of data, such as movies.
